The big reason is because I absolutely hate the empty week before the Super Bowl. So much of it is just empty reporting and bad answers to bad questions. People ask Bill Belichick about Tom Brady's ankle and he says: "We'll have our injury report done on Wednesday, when we have to, and we look forward to getting it to you." I mean, there is just so little news to report, and even less that the coaches are willing to share. But part of the onus rests on what I think is terrible reporting. Imagine asking somebody at the scene of a homicide: "Talk about murder." Or, after a new budget was passed, asking the mayor: "So, what's going on with our money?" Real reporters would ask the witness to tell us about the victim if he was a friend, or about what they saw if they were an eyewitness. One would also ask the mayor about controversial sections of the budget, what it's fixing, where they took away funding, something a little bit more hard hitting. But here in the NFL world, an appropriate question is: "Talk about Wes Welker" or "How good are the Patriots?" (A: Very good.) I really can't understand that, so I just ignore it. During the off-season we'll have regular Free Agent signing updates, Draft Day coverage, etc.
